Palin As Vice Presidential Running Mate
JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT - ARLINGTON,
VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain
today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be
his running mate and to serve as his vice president. Governor Palin is a tough executive
who has
demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be
president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within
her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and
reform that we need in Washington. Governor Palin has challenged the
influence of
the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy
resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us --
Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in
the fight to make America energy independent. In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a
corrupt
system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used
her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the "bridge to
nowhere" that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars. As the head of Alaska's National Guard
and as the
mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes
to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our
troops. Governor Palin has the record of
reform and
bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking
up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today. The saga of a Mike Huckabee Supporter
I
became aware of
Gov. Huckabee through a fellow pro-life advocate, Harvey Dean. It
was early in the year when I was looking for someone running for
President who was a genuine advocate of God's gift of life and
not someone who used it to get votes. While in Harvey's office on
an unrelated matter he told me about Mike Huckabee. After a spirited discussion on Pro-Life Polticians, Harvey Dean said to me, "Check on
him, you will be surprised". He
was right. I eventually gave Mike Huckabee my personal
endorsement and later the board of directors of Michigan Christians for
Life endorsed him. In both cases Mike Huckabee was
pleased. Later I would present him with the annual Michigan
Christians for Life "Choose Life" award at his campaign stop in Warren,
Michigan. What
made the Mike Huckabee Campaign so delightful was the grass roots
supporters who tenaciously did everything they could to help promote
his positions on key issues. We were like family and in all the
campaigns I've been involved in this was the best. When
Sen. John McCain captured enough votes to become the nominee of the
Republican Party, Mike Huckabee graciously withdrew from his campaign
and encouraged all of us to become involved with the John McCain
campaign. That my friend is how I got involved. I offered
help, made an endorsement and made more telephone calls then I care to
reveal to get someone from the Campaign to say, "thanks, we appreciate
that." It never happened. Last week I made another
endorsement. This time it was for the McCain ~ Palin Team.
Now I'm waiting on that one I
can't blame Sen. John McCain for the lack of communication. There is a
breakdown somewhere in his Campaign office. Perhaps they consider
us " small change" or someone has a case of bad manners. I hope
before the election in November that someone in the John McCain
Campaign will say, "Thank You". When that happens I'll report who
it was on this page. The
following is my "current " endorsement for the McCain ~ Palin Team:
Art Mirek's Endorsement of the
McCain-Palin Team
Pro-Life Senator John McCain is more than an American hero. He is a proven leader who has worked with both Democrats and Republicans in order to pass legislation that has benefited our Country. His dedication to this great Nation, as a Navy officer, an elected member of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate has been his life's work. Today, in order to make government work better it must include both strong men and women. With his choice of Pro-Life Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for his Vice President, Senator John McCain has clearly shown his commitment to include every voice in our nation. With Gov. Sarah Pallin as his running mate Sen. John McCain opens up the whole presidential campaign. It creates a breath of fresh air and an opportunity for voters to create real change. For a long time America has been in need of a well qualified woman to help lead this Nation and Governor Palin is a perfect choice. She will appeal to all Americans as a mother of 5 children who has a track record of helping people. Beginning with her local PTA, followed by her elections to City Council, Mayor and Governor. The McCain-Palin Team has what everyone is looking for in leadership, namely character, courage and honesty. Both have been tested in the political arena. They have fought corruption and shook up the status quo and came up winners. The McCain-Palin Team will bring a fresh, new perspective to the American people which is so much needed today. Therefore I endorse The John
McCain ~ Sarah Pallin Team and encourage everyone to vote for them. It
will change how Washington works and you can
count on it! Dr.
